Finish Line at Danaos Cinema
Are you ready for the Athens Classic Marathon?
The sports documentary Finish Line will be screened at Danaos Cinema on Sunday 23 October at 4.30 pm – and the director, Eliana Abravanel, will be there too. The screening will be followed by a discussion with her, so we advise you not to rush to leave the event!
Finish Line is a ‘running guide to becoming your own hero’ – the story follows three ‘evergreen adolescent’ men whose lives have changed day to day, hour to hour!
The Movie
Idomeneas is a robust Cretan who runs the Athens Classic Marathon, wearing a full suit of armour and no shoes. Antonis is an old-school shepherd who discovered his talent for long-distance running after he accidentally outran a wolf who had snatched one of his lambs. Stelios is the oldest active marathon runner in Greece. The older he gets, the more races he runs, en route to the Guinness Book of World Records and his own version of immortality. Each time they cross the finish line, they come a step closer to the daily hero they hide inside them!
The Competition
