Group Exhibition “THE VEHICLE” – Painting Workshop of MDA Hellas
The opening of MDA’s Group Exhibition, “THE VEHICLE”, took place on Wednesday, December 12, 2019, at the Parnassos Literary Society, with great success.
At the first exhibition of MDA’s painting workshop we had the opportunity to see the work of 6 members and 6 Artists of the Athens School of Fine Arts.
Vehicles can be terrestrial, floating, aerial, space. In everyday life, the majority use ground vehicles such as bicycles, cars, trains, etc.
For several members of MDA’s painting workshop, the “Vehicle” is their wheelchair, as the means of transport. Undoubtedly, transportation/transition is one of the main features of modern life in the city.
For people with disabilities, transportation is often takes place under difficult conditions. The access to normality becomes prohibitive, which contributes to choose isolation as a solution.
The motivating force behind the project was the need to modify the meaning of the word “Vehicle” from an existing means of transport to a means belonging to the realm of the imaginary.
The spectator will have the opportunity to observe the enrichment of the meaning of the word Vehicle with references to love, patience, joy, serenity, pride, agony, pleasure, expression, communication.
Finally, he will realize the shaping in a “Vehicle” with wings on its wheels, or as it was stated in the workshops by the project participants in something special, in a sense inevitably linked to how we see and deal with life.
