As part of the training of health professionals, MDA Hellas, in collaboration with the Parent Group of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), organized a week devoted to a primary issue for children who are members of the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Association: physiotherapy. The leader of this project was Marion Main, Leading Consultant Physiotherapist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, whose 28 years of experience treating children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is invaluable.
The training for the physiotherapists and other professionals, such as occupational therapists and hydrotherapists, and the clinical evaluation of the Association’s members, as well as parent training, were held under Marion Main’s guidance and with her invaluable contribution. Altogether, more than 25 professionals and more than 30 families were trained in physiotherapy exercises focussed on this particular disease.
The training and the clinical assessments were carried out at the NMD Special Unit at the Agia Sofia Children’s Hospital and at the MDA Hellas House.
Our supporter for this training programme was AEGEAN AIRLINES.
